What Part Does Intuition Play?
Dear Dr. Sara,
What part does intuition play in my Energy Medicine training? Some people just know what is wrong and just know how to fix it. That is one of the reasons I wanted to learn EEM. I thought I would be able to just know. That I would just get it and then be able to just fix it. I know Donna Eden sees the energy, so she knows in ways that I just can’t do. I feel like I will always be behind.

Ah, this is a great discussion waiting to happen. I would encourage you to gather with your fellow students and get feedback and support on this. In the meantime, let me throw this into the mix.
The art of intuition is a way of sensing. It is a sense. Just like the five majors senses: seeing, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. There is also the sense of intuition. I would confirm that intuition, at least in the spirit of why you are asking this question, is a valid way of processing information and obtaining knowledge.
Albert Einstein is credited with saying; “Intuition does not come to an unprepared mind”. I think that Einstein may be touching the heart of why you are feeling “behind”.
Let me explain.
There is a widely held belief that the intuitive sense is impervious to training. You either got it or you don’t. However, with the exception of savants, strongly intuitive people are developed rather than born. Some may have more raw talent than others—this is true. But even the most talented piano player—even Mozart– took lessons and practiced. No different when it comes to developing intuition.
For illustration, take the massage therapist that has been practicing for 15 years. This seasoned professional can know exactly what muscle is acting up by just looking at you. Without a lab test, without a muscle test, she just knows what ails you. There are years of expertise and observation and connection that have finely tuned her intuitional sense. Her assessment is incredibly precise and instantaneous. Her touch brings resolution to your discomfort in just a few minutes. This massage therapist has an intuition that is highly developed. She has a sophisticated way of calculating that has been honed and reinforced by years of experience and feedback. She just knows what is wrong and she just knows how to fix it.
Using Einstein’s observation that intuition does not come to an unprepared mind, I would encourage you to continue your education and remain steadfast in accumulating experiences that are conducive to your intuitional development.
Intuition is an art that thrives in atmospheres where it is practiced, tested, nurtured, encouraged and respected. I would encourage you to immerse yourself in this kind of environment.
